The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the
following statement:

 

Congratulations to Workers & Peasants

 

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) congratulates the
lakhs of workers and peasants who courted arrest today as a part of
nationwide joint call given by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha and Joint Platform
of Central Trade Unions & independent federations.  

 

The call coinciding with Quit India Day was to press for the repeal of four
draconian labour codes, restoration of a strengthened MNREGS, scrapping of
Free Trade Agreements, MSP based on the Swaminatham Commission
recommendations and a universal minimum wage of Rs.42, 000 etc.

 

The success of the jail bharo is proof that these demads resonate with the
mass of the people and is warning to the Modi government to put a stop to
its anti worker-peasant policies.  

 

The Polit Bureau urges upon the Modi government to heed to the warnings from
the ground and immediately address the issues raised by the workers and
peasants of India.
