The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the
following statement:

 

Deep Grief at the Loss of Lives in Wayanad Landslides

 

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its deep grief at the death of many
people in the repeated landslides happening in Wayanad, Kerala.  According
to latest reports, over 63 people died and the number is rising. Over
hundred people are trapped in the rubble.  Heavy damage and loss of property
are also reported.  We convey our deep condolences to the affected families.

 

Kerala state government has already started intense rescue operations with
the help of experts and people. We hope that the Central government will
provide all aid and coordinate with state government for rescue, relief and
rehabilitation work on a war footing.
