The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the
following statement:

 

Bihar: Deep Grief over Children's Death due to Encephalitis

 

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its deep grief at the death of
nearly hundred children who have succumbed to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome
(AES) in Bihar, particularly in Muzaffarpur. CPI(M) calls upon both the
Central and state health authorities to contain this raging epidemic on a
war footing.

 

A delegation of the CPI(M) leaders in Bihar, led by Party state secretary,
interacted with the guardians of the children who are victims of this
tragedy and ascertained the circumstances and the cause for death of
children. The CPI(M) will provide whatever assistance and help required,
including a team of doctors, to contain this epidemic.  

 

Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) conveys its heartfelt condolences to the families
of the bereaved children.
