The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the
following statement:
 
Assam: Stop These Murders
 
The Polit Bureau strongly condemns the gunning down of five people in
Tinsukia district in Assam yesterday.
 
The environment of hate created and fanned by the RSS/BJP in Assam lies at
the root of the murders yesterday.  Apart from the state government failing
to ensure the protection of law and order, these killings are part of a
larger campaign of hate and violence.  This must be put a stop to.
 
The Polit Bureau demands that the state government must discharge its
constitutional responsibilities by providing adequate security to protect
the life and properties of the religious and linguistic minorities in the
state.
