Press Statement

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the
following statement:

Rain damage in Kerala

The Polit-Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) expresses its
grave concern over the unprecedented flood and devastation in eight
districts in Kerala as a result of incessant heavy rain. This has left
nearly 60,000 people homeless and 29 people dead. Roads and homes have
been heavily damaged in many places.
The full magnitude of the heavy damages are not assessed so far, though it
is clear that it would be to the tune of thousands of crores of rupees.
The state government is taking all possible steps for rescue, relief and
rehabilitation. We urge upon the Union Government to rush all necessary
help urgently. People and various organizations are already moving for
rescue and relief activities in a united manner.
The Polit-Bureau calls upon all Party members and sympathisers to join
hands for rescue and relief activities in a dedicated manner.
